In parternship with UQ's Graduate School, is offering to PhD candidates an opportunity to work with their reserach and innovation team to develop their research and transferable skills through a HDR placement. PhD candidates with a relevant background (e.g., pharmaceutical sciences, clinical research, life sciences) are welcome to apply.

Intended start date: January to March 2026.

Total days: 60 working days.

Location: Translational Research Institute TRI, Woolloongabba. QLD. To collaborate with our team 2-3 times a week at the office, work from home available the remainder of the week.

About the project

Develop with mentoring and guidance from inspirational leaders while helping to make an impact on the lives of countless people worldwide.

This Brisbane based placement offers a unique opportunity for the selected student to gain valuable industry experience and enhance their skills, while being mentored by inspirational leaders in a cutting-edge project.

  • Research and prepare a short internal report on the application of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct in the context of pharmaceutical event planning. This will involve critically reviewing compliance requirements, identifying potential gaps, and proposing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Curate and analyse the scientific content presented at the TSH Symposium, including the thematic framing of sessions, speaker selection rationale, and audience insights. This activity will involve collecting, synthesising, and communicating complex information in collaboration with researchers and industry professionals.
  • Support the planning and delivery of the TSH Symposium, including agenda coordination, logistics, and on-the-day execution, as part of the organising committee.
  • Assist in stakeholder communication, including briefing speakers and supporting participant engagement — with a focus on tailoring messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Gain exposure to operational and strategic aspects of external engagement within a pharmaceutical company, including insights into how research priorities translate into collaborative initiatives.
  • Contribute to other ecosystem initiatives or engagement activities, including structured opportunities to observe and reflect on industry–research interfaces.
