Brisbane Catholic Education Innovation Impact - Placement Opportunity
Brisbane Catholic Education is a learning community of all involved in diocesan Catholic schools and the staff of the Brisbane Catholic Education Office. With over 140 schools, Brisbane Catholic Education provides quality teaching and learning outcomes for Prep to Year 12 students.
Currenlty is seeking an intern to work in the “Innovative School for Impact” program in 2024. The internship placement is intended to be focused on supporting the capturing of innovation impacts within the Brisbane Catholic Education footprint. Reporting to the Senior Manager- Research, Innovation & Impact, the intern will have a chance to benefit BCE through utilising their doctoral skills to help support the:
- Establishment of plans for capturing research, innovation and impact needs.
- Support teachers in schools to capture research and inform future learning and wellbeing considerations.
- Support teachers with developing action research processes and methods in areas that have been identified (and a number of partnerships already established) as integral in BCE’s new Education strategy.
- Help inform, influence and determine strategic priorities and direction that inspires and stimulates positive change in learning and wellbeing for all students.
- Using inputs from emerging learning technologies, educational research and global trends to help co-design new directions for learning and wellbeing.
- Supporting teachers towards the communication of findings from innovation impacts.
Intended start date: Early 2024.

All expressions of interest are welcome from current Doctoral students, yet it is preferable that the proposed doctoral intern has a skillset that is aligned to:
- Collaboration with schools to help support action research and collaboration in the areas of learning and wellbeing.
- Have experience in developing staff capabilities via professional development.
- Have experience in planning and utilising methods to help capture the impacts of professional practices.

About the Project
The new Research, Innovation & Impact function area at Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is establishing new capabilities for impact capturing to improve
and enhance the translation of research from emerging educational innovations being undertaken across BCE schools.
From 2024, a new “Innovative School for Impact” program will be launched with the intention to capture the elements of effective practices within a cycle of
learning, teaching, and evidence-based building to articulate the future-focused potential of upscaling towards educational transformation across BCE schools.
The following areas have been identified (and a number of partnerships already established) as integral in BCE’s new Education strategy being launched in 2024:
- Literacy and Numeracy
- Resilience (as a particular capability to impact learning and wellbeing)
- Emerging Technologies (especially Artificial Intelligence)
- Critical, Creative and Deep Learning

- Student Voice & Agency
- Capabilities for Engagement & Agency
The PhD Researcher Internship Program provides an exciting placement opportunity for PhD students to work within the new function area of BCE.
