Industry Experience Award

The Industry Experience Award offers up to AUD$3000 to HDR candidates for successful completion of certain pre-existing Industry Experience Placement opportunities which have been specifically nominated as eligible.

This award supports enrolled HDR students to apply for certain nominated Industry Experience Placements intended to

build transferable skills by engaging in a meaningful placement within an organisation,
enhance the quality of their candidature, thesis and/or associated research output,
develop additional skills for a career post-candidature,
and contribute stronger linkages between UQ research students and industry.

Please note that the number of well qualified applicants may outnumber the opportunities available.

Eligibility

Be undertaking a placement that has been specifically nominated for and is associated with the Industry Experience Award.
Be an enrolled and confirmed HDR candidate at the time of application
Have no overdue milestones or unpaid student fees at the time of application
This is a competitive award and applicants will be selected as part of a merit based process
Advisor approval is required before submitting the application.

Terms and Conditions

Only eligible applicants will be considered.
Applicants must seek approval for the proposed activity from their Principal Advisor before submitting an application.
Incomplete applications will not be considered; applicants are responsible for providing the required documentation and the Graduate School will not follow up with individual applicants about incomplete applications, including missing or incorrect endorsements.
Placement must be completed prior to conferral of the higher degree by research.
Successful applicants must submit a completion report at conclusion of the Placement and will be assessed according to demonstration of required HDR Graduate Attributes.
The Award payment will be made on successful completion of the associated Industry Experience Placement opportunity.
Applicants may be eligible to request a milestone extension based on the time committed to this Career Development Activity.
