Applying for Australian academic positions [webinar]
The session will help you to identify the skill sets and experiences that academic employers are looking for so that you can be proactive and strategic in your professional developing during candidature. Tips and tricks for how to read academic job ads and structure an application for the Australian academic job market are also included.
This workshop:
- Outlines the general types of academic roles and levels in Australian universities
- Discusses strategies to find academic jobs opportunities
- Highlights the importance of the Position Description statement and it's component parts
- Provides suggestions for preparing your application
- Suggests ways to be strategic and competitive for academic roles
By the end of this workshop you will have:
- A plan for finding and identifying academic roles in your field
- Started identifying the skill sets being sought in your field and areas that you need to develop further
- Practiced responding to selection criteria
Target audience: This workshop is suitable for all HDR candidates, but will be most useful for those in the mid-stages of candidature.
Requirements: Please bring to this session a hard-copy of your Curriculum Vitae (that you are willing for others in the session to see) and an electronic device with internet access (e.g., laptop, tablet, smart phone).
