About Orientation
Success in a higher degree by research program can be made easier if you get off to a good start. This includes being aware of your rights and responsibilities as an HDR candidate, as well as the University-provided supports and opportunities available to assist you in successfully completing your degree.
Orientation is comprised of an online module and a virtual Meet'n'Greet session, as well as a number of in-person social events. Our eOrientation includes important information about:
- Your candidature, progress reviews, scholarship conditions, forms and guidance;
- Training and development opportunities to complement your HDR program; and
- Support networks including the UQ Library, Association of Postgraduate Students and where to go if things go wrong.
The eOrientation Meet’n’Greet includes important information from Graduate School representatives about your HDR program. You will also hear from a panel of end-stage UQ HDR candidates and recent Alumni about their tips for successful completion of a HDR program.
eOrientation is strongly recommended for all commencing HDR candidates, both domestic and international. Please complete the eOrientation within your first 6 weeks to get the most benefit out of your transition experience.
