You’ve just generated an amazing dataset, and a high-impact paper is on the horizon. But did you know your data itself could also be published in a leading journal?

In today’s research environment, effective data collection, management, and sharing are vital for scholarly success, impact, and translation. This workshop is designed for HDR students and ECRs across disciplines, especially in the natural sciences and medicine, who want practical, hands-on skills to increase the impact, visibility, and credibility of their research. You will learn how to apply the FAIR principles (making your data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), how to prepare your data for publication, and how to navigate ethical, technical, and legal considerations. We will cover research planning, project management, reproducibility, and strategies for gaining recognition through data sharing, providing a robust foundation in strategic and technical data management in research and data-driven roles. By the end of the session, you’ll understand how to turn high-quality data into a lasting research asset, boosting collaboration, professional profile, and career readiness in academia and industry.

This workshop is suitable for HDR candidates and Early Career Researchers at all stages of their programs.

Presenter

Dr Nela Durisic, Research Fellow at Queensland Brain Institute, leads research on the Molecular Neurobiology of Inhibitory Synapses. She developed and standardized several groundbreaking methods for quantifying proteins in living cells, published in Nature journals. Her data has been reused worldwide, enabling high-impact publications. Funded by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), she promotes FAIR data principles, educates emerging scientists, and organizes workshops to promote ethical, reproducible, and impactful research data management.

About eResearch and data management
