CSIRO in partnership with UQ's Graduate School, is offering to PhD candidates an opportunity to work in "Systems mapping of environmental AMR drivers in Australia" project to develop their research and transferable skills through a HDR placement. PhD candidates majoring in environmental science/public health or a relevant science field are welcome to apply.
Intended start date: 25 May 2026
Total days: 60 working days
Location: CSIRO Australian e-Health research centre, Herston. To collaborate full time Monday to Friday at the office.

This placement is unpaid; however, if you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be ablet to receive one of the Graduate School Scholarships. Please note that all PhD students are eligible to apply for this placement, regardless of their scholarship eligibility.
About the project
This project aims to develop a systems map of drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infectious diseases in the environment within the Australian context. A systems thinking approach, informed by the One Health framework, which recognises the interconnected health of humans, animals and the environment, will be applied.
Key tasks:
Conduct a review of peer reviewed and grey literature
Support the development of a systems map based on systems thinking (software will be provided)
Support organisation of stakeholder discussions to validate the results
Draft a report, white paper or a manuscript suitable for peer review.
