Data literacy, storytelling and influencing decision-makers [webinar]
This is an ISSR course and places are highly limited as Graduate School is paying the fee. This course is designed for HDR students aiming to master the skills of identifying, interpreting, and drawing informed conclusions from diverse data sources. Students will learn to transform these insights into compelling narratives that can influence policy and practice. The course will:
- Highlight key data terms and statistical concepts to support more accurate understandings of data.
- Examine how study design impacts data collection and interpretation, helping students recognise the strengths and limitations of various data sources.
- Consider how synthesising different types of data can create more robust evidence to support influential data story telling.
- Emphasize essential principles for the ethical translation of data.
- Outline strategies for crafting influential data stories tailored to different audiences.
- Provide guidelines for creating effective data visualizations to enhance research translation.
